Through her work advocating for youth, Sarah found herself working with people in Vancouver who were deeply passionate about issues affecting the community. She works at the New Fountain Homeless Shelter in the DTES and is a founding member of Portland FC, a soccer team that started out from the New Fountain Homeless Shelter; its members recently attended the 2010 Homeless World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.
She has been employed as a Youth Outreach Worker with SPEC (Society for Promoting Environmental Conservation), and in Ecuador with the Environmental Youth Alliance.
Sarah was also a founding partner of the Vancouver Skateboard Coalition and helped secure the declaration of Skateboard Week and the development of six new skateparks.
Sarah has been a contributor to Momentum magazine and has written for many publications, including Snowboard Canada, Skateboard Canada, EXPN and Terminal City. She was also a contributor to beyondrobson.com, a popular Vancouver blog.
She has successfully worked with community groups to get what they need in their parks and community centres and bring the parks and recreation into the future with better use of technology.
As the mother of a seven-year old boy, Sarah makes good use of Vancouver's parks and community gardens. Sarah is now serving her second term on the Park Board, and she was elected Park Board Chair in June 2012.
