Vision Vancouver is working tirelessly to improve the quality of life for all citizens and to create neighbourhoods that are strong and safe. We have repeatedly supported the better staffing of our city’s police force, the full implementation of the City’s Four Pillars drug plan, and fought for expanded outreach for those at risk.

Our Record

• Vision councilors supported hiring more police officers in 2006, 2007, and 2008, to help lower response times and increase capabilities around dealing with violent crime.
• Vision has strongly supported InSite as a way to reduce overdoses and disease transmission.
• Vision has pushed for better public awareness campaigns around community treatment facilities, including more translation for information materials and public meetings.
• Vision is creating the position of a mental health advocate, who will help develop long-term strategies and solutions for people with serious mental illnesses.
• Vision cancelled the expansion of the Downtown Ambassadors program and is working to redirect the program’s funds to the police and community policing centers.
• In the previous term,Vision introduced a motion to learn from best practices and expand the successful Crime-Free Multi-Unit housing program.
