Our Record
- Vision councilors supported hiring more police officers in 2006, 2007, and 2008, to help lower response times and increase capabilities around dealing with violent crime.
- Vision has strongly supported InSite as a way to reduce overdoses and disease transmission.
- Vision has pushed for better public awareness campaigns around community treatment facilities, including more translation for information materials and public meetings.
- Vision is creating the position of a mental health advocate, who will help develop long-term strategies and solutions for people with serious mental illnesses.
- Vision cancelled the expansion of the Downtown Ambassadors program and is working to redirect the program’s funds to the police and community policing centers.
- In the previous term,Vision introduced a motion to learn from best practices and expand the successful Crime-Free Multi-Unit housing program.
